Ailsa yachts were made on the Clyde in Largs, Scotland for many years both before and after the Second World War. This model is an early example from the 1930's.
The hull is wooden and in good order. The paintwork is very striking in original green with a gold coachline and cream below the waterline.
This yacht has been sailed quite a lot. She has a number of marks and scratches on the hull especially on the bow and the stern.
There are quite a few marks on the deck edge and on the deck itself. All the deck fittings are original and the famous "Ailsa handmade" plaque is present and correct.
The sails are original cotton and in good order for their age. There is some staining, one repair in the mainsail and a few pinholes. They have the lovely blue stripes which are indicative of its 1930's heritage.
All the spars, bowsies and hooks are original but the rigging is likely to have been renewed.
Please have a good look at the photos. Considering her age and the amount of sailing she has done I hope you will agree that it is remarkable for her to have survived so well.
The stand is homemade and not as old as the yacht. It is included in the sale if required.
