This very striking pond yacht was made by Alexander of Preston and sold by the famous London store Hamleys.
Some Hamleys yachts from Alexander had a unique colour scheme of black with a green or red water line and cream decks. To find one which has survived intact is very rare indeed.
Not unusually for an Alexander she has been sailed extensively so there are marks on the hull and in the paintwork. The paintwork is all original including the deck. There is a small area of damage on the stern and some paint loss on the keel and on the topsides amidships.
All of the deck fittings are present and original including the sheet horses and the braine steering.
Both the Hamleys and Heather Elf ivorine plaques are present and correct.
The spars are original, alloy, and painted black. There are a few marks.
All the hooks and bowsies are original but all of the rigging has been renewed at various times.
The sails are replacements and were made by Nylet of Bournemouth. They are still in perfect order. The original sails are also available as they were used as the templates for the new ones.
There is a homemade burgee with RSYC embroidered in a basic manner. It is quite tatty so could be from her sailing days.
She is a beautiful yacht with the quality hull shape you expect from Alexander and Sons.
She also has the heritage of having been sold by Hamleys.
A wonderful collectable yacht.
The stand is not as old as the yacht but is included in the sale if required.
