In the 1930's Star Productions produced Fishing Smacks both for themselves and for Lines Bros (Triang). At 17 inches plus the bowsprit this is the Triang version LB17.
The Triang models do not appear to have been made in large numbers and consequently they are amongst the rarest of models produced in Birkenhead.
This particular smack is quite distressed so it must have been sailed. The hull is in good order but the original varnish has aged. It is crackled and dull in places and in other areas has worn away. Please have a good look at the photos as they give a good idea of the overall condition.
Most Fishing Smacks, especially Triang examples, do not have their original sails as the material simply did not last. Although faded these sails are in very good condition with no holes or tears. It is possible therefore that these may be replacements.
The deck is original with plank lines. The deck fittings are original and so is the rudder.
We have been offering Stars for sale for over 15 years now and this is only the fourth Star/Lines Bros we have been able to offer for sale.
The stand is not as old as the yacht but is included in the sale if required.
Star Production yachts are very collectable and rare models such as this, especially so.
