Frank Suggs produced high class pond yachts in Liverpool between the 2 World Wars. They were then sold through the large stores of that time such as Gamages and Hamleys.
The majority of the production was in the 10 to 16 inch range. This particular yacht is the largest we have been able to offer. She is also the first schooner that we have seen.
She was restored, to a very high standard, about 25 years ago by a member of the Vintage Model Yacht Group.
The hull has the wonderful wineglass shape that you would expect from a yacht made by Suggs.
She is in very good condition and the paintwork, in original colours of black and red, has very few marks.
The deck has the usual convex shape and a wonderful colour. There is lovely carved toe rail.
The sails were made using the originals as templates. They are in very good condition with just a few stains but no holes or tears.
Suggs yachts, especially of this size and sailplan, are becoming almost impossible to find and are therefore extremely collectable.
The stand is included in the sale.
