This very decorative pond yacht dates from the 1930's and was made by the Solent Model Yacht company. In the 17 years of Pond Yacht Antiques this is the first of their yachts we have discovered so they cannot have been made in large numbers. They are reputed to have been based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, famous for Cowes week and the Round the Island race.

This was the era of the "J-Class" yachts and she has been painted with the name Shamrock which was used by Sir Thomas Lipton on his America's Cup yachts.

She is in original condition but she has been sailed so there is some paint loss. The hull is bread and butter, hollowed with a separate deck. The keel is metal with a faux rudder.

The deck has bubbled varnish which is often found on this age of yacht. There is a faux hatch and a lovely wooden shield with the makers name.

The rig is original and the sails are in remarkable condition for their age with just a few stains. The topsail may be a later addition/replacement. The bowsprit is adjustable.

Please have a good look at all the photos as they give a very good indication of the overall condition.

She is a very attractive yacht from the hayday of pond yachts.

The stand sets off the yacht very well but may not have been made for this yacht. It is included in the sale if it is required.
