This pond yacht is based on a 19th century pilot cutter design.
She was carved from solid pitch pine, hollowed, and fitted with a separate deck. She has a wonderful wine glass hull shape.
All these factors suggest very strongly that she was built at the end of the 19th century, probably around 1880/90.
The hull is in good order for her age. There is a large toerail which has some damage at the bow and the stern. The rudder is missing.
The hull is very deep and quite heavy. However, there is no ballast. It may have been fitted as a keel or it may have been internal. It is difficult to know.
The deck has been badly removed and will require some attention.
Obviously she does not have a rig which would have been gaff with a large bowsprit with 2 or 3 foresails.
Please have a good look at the photos as they form an important part of the description. If you require any more then please do not hesitate to ask.
A large but very worthwhile project whether it is for display or a full restoration.
