This very attractive varnished pond yacht was made by Alexander of Preston. She is called Heather Glen and has the original name plaque on the deck.
Not unusually for an Alexander she has been sailed and, as protection, she was overvarnished, probably by hand. There are some marks in the varnish and there are also a couple of runs on the keel.
The deck has also been overvarnished. All of the deck fittings are present and original including the sheet horse and the braine steering. It has black plank lines.
The sails are original and are in good condition considering they have been sailed. There is some foxing and water stains. The sails have been stored wet at some point and so all the cringles have verdigris. Two on the jib have pulled out and one on the main has been repaired.
The hooks and bowsies are all original but all the rigging is likely to have been replaced. The mast and boom are wooden and the jib boom alloy.
The stand is in the style of those supplied by Alexander but is probably homemade. It is included in the sale if required.
She is a beautiful yacht with the wonderful quality hull shape you expect from Alexander and sons.
