According to Basil Hartley in "Toy Boats" Bassett-Lowke only produced the Mercury for a short time in 1929. This could explain why this is the only the second example  we have been able to offer for sale in 14 years.

Remarkably she is totally original but, whilst she could be displayed as she is, it could be suggested that she would benefit from some restoration.

The windscreen and the flagstaff are missing and the paintwork, although original, is discoloured and has marks. There is some paint chipping, most notably along the deck edge, and along the hull edge.

The clockwork motor works very well and has a key. We have not been able to inspect the motor as the hatch is difficult to remove.

The steering system works perfectly, as does the ahead and stop lever.

The prop and rudder are original.

Please have a good look at the photos  as that will help you decide whether or not to restore. We would suggest that she is a very decorative motor launch as she is.

The stand is included in the sale if required but is not as old as the boat.

This is a wonderful opportunity as Mercury launches are very rare indeed.
