This is an example of a very rare pond yacht which is a model of a historic fishing boat called a Scottish "Fifie". Full size Fifies were the mainstay of the Scottish herring fleet of the 19th century.

This particular yacht was carved from solid pitch pine, hollowed, with a separate deck, and has a long lead ballast keel. It is a very evocative double ended hull shape from a bygone era. She is called "Seiner" which is a method of fishing which is still used in Scotland today.

Overall the hull is in good order with the original hand painted colour scheme.  She has been sailed so there are marks and scratches. The deck has  a wonderful colour with plank lines and original fittings including an unusual circular staysail sheet horse.

There are 2 rigs for this yacht. A larger one for light airs and a smaller one for when the wind increases. The sails are all present and correct but they are quite delicate and in places heavily stained. They are perfectly suitable for display and give a very good impression of the yachts age. However, if you were to consider returning her to the water we would suggest replacement sails would be required.

Seiner has her original box with the name of the owner painted on the inside of the lid.

She is a very decorative yacht with a wonderful and interesting background. We would suggest she is a part of Scottish history.

The stands are not as old as the yacht but are included in the sale.

Please note that Seiner is a very heavy yacht with a substantial box so shipping costs are likely to be higher than normal.
