Production of the Star Racing cutter commenced around 1929/30. This model, in original red and cream livery, is one of the early examples.
The Racing Cutter and the Racing Special were the most expensive of the yachts produced by Star at that time. Consequently they were only sold in small numbers and are extremely rare today. This particular yacht is astonishing in that she is so original.
The paintwork is original and in reasonable condition but there are marks from sailing and some paint loss. The bow area has been touched up.
This yacht is fitted with a detachable swinging door rudder.
The deck is original although the varnish is a little dull. The fittings are all original.
The spars, hooks, and bowsies are original but some of the rigging has been replaced.
Amazingly, given her age, she has all her original sails including the topsail. However, they are a little delicate. There are a number of tears and some repairs. There a numerous stains as well. The sails are suitable for display at the moment but at some point in the future will need to be replaced.
Overall the condition of this yacht is astonishing considering that she is approaching 100 years old but she is offered exactly as we found her. The new owner may consider that the time has come for some remedial work is appropriate. This is especially true of the sails so please have a good look at the photos. If there are any areas which are unclear please get in touch and we will provide further photographs.
This is only the second Racing Cutter we have been able to offer in the years we have been involved in pond yachts.
A real collectors item.
