Alexandra is one of a range of yachts made in the 1930's and sold through the large London stores of the time, Hamleys, Gamages, and Bonds of Euston Road.
As one of the largest of the range she is fitted with a gaff rig rather than the more common gunter rig.
She has a hollow hull with a separate hardwood deck. The blue and gold paintwork is original but this yacht has been sailed so there are marks on the hull and some paintloss especially around the hull deck joint. In sailing trim she would have had a lead weight swinging on the trailing edge of the rudder. The Alexandra transfers are in good condition.
The deck is in good order with all original fittings and plank lines cut into the surface.
The rig is in very good condition. The spars appear to be original although with a bowsprit of this size it would be surprising if it has not been replaced. The sails are in good order with no holes or tears but they do have some water stains. Some of the rigging has been renewed.
The stand is made of pine and may not be as old as the yacht but is included in the sale if required.
She is a very rare yacht indeed and very evocative of the era.
