The Arctic Star is one of the SB (Super Bermuden) range of Star Production pond yachts. This was the premier range of post war Star yachts as the models were fitted with an automatic steering system.
This particular yacht is in good condition considering she has been sailed extensively.
The hull has its original paintwork of white with the rubbing strake, rudder, and ballast picked out in orange. The paintwork is in good order with some paint loss on the bow and especially on the ballast. The Arctic Star transfers are perfect.
The deck is original with drawn planklines and a Star transfer. However, the edge of the deck is worn and damaged in places. This has resulted in the varnish lifting and flaking on the deck. The sheet horses and the self steering tiller are all original.
The rig is in good order. The sails are surprisingly good as the yacht has been sailed.
They have a few stains and a number of the cringles have pulled out.
The jib boom appears to have been replaced but the mast, main boom and all the hooks, rings, and bowsies are original. Some of the rigging has been renewed.
The stand is homemade but is included in the sale if required.
Larger Stars are quite collectable and this Arctic Star is offered at a price commensurate with its condition.
