The Comet is the largest of the post WWII BR range of Star Production pond yachts.
Due to their vibrant colours the BR's are probably the most decorative and therefore the most collectable of all the Star yachts. They are very popular with interior designers.
This particular yacht has the square transom of the 1970's and 80's.
The paintwork is original, green above the waterline and varnish below. She has been sailed so there is some paint loss on the keel and and some marks on the hull. There is a large scratch on the port quarter.
The deck has all its original brass fittings and its varnish finish is original. However, there is discolouration around many of the deck fittings and there is an area of delamination just aft of the mast on the starboard side. It is is stable and is not moving. There is also some damage to the deck edge especially at the stern.
The deck transfer is original and in good order.
The sails are original and in good condition with no holes or tears. They have a couple of water stains and a few mildew marks. The mainsail stamp is present and correct. All the hooks, spars and bowsies are original.
All large Stars are now very collectable, especially this range, and the Comet was one of the most expensive to buy when new.
This particular yacht is offered at a price commensurate with its condition.
The stand is homemade and is included in the sale if required.
