Star produced a range of yachts called "Racing Special" from the late 1920's to the outbreak of the Second World War. They were the most sophisticated of Stars being the only model with full Braine steering. They were made in various lengths, this particular yacht is a 24 inch Northern Star.
She was made in 1937 as her owner drew his initials and the date on the sails.
It appears she was bought to sail as she has some paint loss on the bow and on the bottom of the keel. The paintwork is all original with a red rubbing strake. There is some paint loss on and around the rudder. The Northern Star transfers have some damage.
The deck has its original plank lines and varnish. All the deck fittings are original including the braine steering and the brass Star plaque. The cabin top has its original portholes and "glass".
The rig is totally original. The sails are in amazing condition for their age with just a few stains. All the brass bowsies, cringles and hooks are original.
The stand appears to have been with the yacht for many years but is unlikely to be original. It is included in the sale if required.
Original Star "Racing Specials" are very collectable simply because they are so rare but they are also becoming very expensive.
If you have a large Star which you would consider as a part exchange. Please get in touch and discuss if it is practical.
