In the 1930's Star Productions produced Fishing Smacks both for themselves and for Lines Bros (Triang). The Triang models were made in two lengths and this example is the larger of the two.
Both the Star and the Triang models appear not to have been made in large numbers and consequently they are amongst the rarest of models produced in Birkenhead.
This particular smack appears to be all original although it is difficult to be certain as we have seen so few of them.
The hull is in very good condition for its age with original stain and varnish.
The rig is also in good order. The spars and all the fittings are original as are the sails. Apart from one tear in the topsail and some missing cringles the sails are in very good condition for their age. The sails still have their distinctive colour and, although faded, the LB 17 can still be seen on the mainsail.
We have been offering Stars for sale for some 8 years now and this in the first Star/Lines Bros we have aquired and only the second we have seen.
The stand is not as old as the yacht but is included in the sale if required.
Star yachts are very collectable now and rare models, which are also original, especially so.
