This book is reputed to be one of the first modern spy stories. Whether that is true or not it is essential reading for any sailor. I have had a number of copies over the years and have lost count of how many times I have read it.
It was first published in 1903 and a first edition now costs £1000 to £1200 depending on condition.
This is a copy dated from 1934 and is really good order. The spine has discoloured over the years and there are some scuff marks on the edges. However, it is still solidly bound and all the pages are complete.
