Winford Model Yachts were made by Kingswinford Forge Ltd in the 1920's

Little else is known about this particular pond yacht manufacturer.

The hulls were made from seamless steel with wooden keels fitted with lead ballast. The keels were bolted through the hulls and could be changed depending on the size of the rig being used and the sailing conditions.

This suggests that they were quite sophisticated racing yachts and would have been very expensive to buy new.

This may explain why they are now very rare. This is only the second Winford we have been able to offer for sale and the first was just a hull.

This particular yacht is called "Silver Spray". She is astonishing as she is complete with her original box and four suits of sails.

The hull is in good order with one dent and some scratching. However, she would benefit from repainting. The deck is wooden and has marks and poor varnish. There is also a crack at the stern. The rivets on the port side have failed so the deck will need to be refitted. The deck fittings are present and original although the rudder rack will need to be repaired and refitted.

There are a number of spars incuding  a mast, bowsprit, and a number of booms. There are four suits of sails of different sizes for different windspeeds. They are all made of stripped material associated with the 20's and 30's. They are all in really good condition for their age. The jibs have a few rust stains and just one rust hole. Three of the mainsails are in very good condition with just a few waterstains. The smallest has a few pinholes and one small tear.

Remarkably the original box has the Kingswinfords assembly/sailing instructions and parts list still intact on the lid.

This is a very rare opportunity.
